revealing the layers of history

LYME, CHESHIRE

Introduction

We have been working at Lyme since 2016 on a number of projects all looking at improvements to access and the overall visitor experience. Our main project is a wide-ranging masterplanning exercise that looks at enhancing and changing the overall visitor experience across the whole of the Lyme estate.

The scope of the work examines the whole visitor journey from arrival to car parking and movement through the estate and gardens. A number of key objectives have been set that have guided the work to date including interpreting the layers of history and landscape around Lyme Park and enhance the spirit of place, providing a high-quality environment and visitor welcome and improving the capacity for the current and future visitor numbers in terms of car parking, pedestrian routes.
