We are working on a number of projects for The National Trust to improve the capacity for future visitor numbers and to enhance the overall visitor experience through a careful balance of historic layering and the introduction of new infrastructure.

One of the projects is at Sizergh Hall, managed by The National Trust, in the Lake District. We’ve designed better path networks with consistent gradients and materials, widened paths, and introduced a central spine path to connect key areas.

Terracing and strategic tree planting were also implemented to manage slopes, enhance the landscape, and improve biodiversity. These enhancements aimed to create a more welcoming and enjoyable environment, deepening visitors’ connection to the estate’s natural and historical elements while ensuring a safe and accessible experience for all.
