New landscaping scheme for Cheshire school

Following our work earlier in the year to design a multi-functional entrance landscape at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School & Sixth Form College in Cheshire, we have been invited back to work on a new project.

The school asked us to look at turning some under-utilised spaces into a Registered Provision Garden.

The main design objective is to create a safe space enclosed by landscape elements for students to reflect or have one-to-one sessions as well as an active space for an outdoor classroom or activities.

We have designed a garden with three distinct zones – an outdoor classroom, a secluded reflection garden and planting along boundaries and throughout the site to provide both screening and sensory value.

We have looked at using a palette of soft, muted colours which could be introduced through furniture or surface paints to further calm the mood.
