Over recent years, the Land Studio team has gained a reputation for enabling clients to gain planning consent for their projects.

One of the biggest areas of work has been acting for holiday and caravan parks in England and Wales, working closely with planning consultants and property agents. Other project examples would include replacement dwellings and commercial developments.

Clients trust our advice due to our intricate knowledge of the planning system and passion for problem-solving. We are always seeking to add value and unlock opportunity for clients.

A holistic team approach, accessing the respective skills of our in-house landscape architecture, engineering and ecology teams, means we can advise on a wide range of planning requirements.

Our detailed landscape assessments have been responsible for many planning successes including securing wins at appeal.

A recent high-profile example of this was our work that helped to win a planning appeal to exchange a number of touring caravans to static caravans at a Welsh holiday park.

Nant Newydd Holiday Park on Anglesey is positioned in a Special Landscape Area (SLA), which means it is defined by the Countryside Council for Wales as ‘an area of high landscape importance for its intrinsic physical, environmental, visual, cultural and historical value in the contemporary landscape.’

The holiday park is also close to ancient woodlands and within 1km of two large SSSI’s, or Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

We worked with Savills to put together a strong submission, including a robust landscape impact assessment and a landscaping design with environmental improvements of tree planting and mixed native hedgerows, which helped to win the appeal.
