South Wales has always held a special place for us. Simon's family roots in the region run deep, and our long-standing involvement with the Design Commission for Wales has kept us closely connected to Cardiff and the broader conversation around design quality across Wales. Now, with a growing portfolio of projects and a new base at the Tramshed, we're beginning to build on those foundations in earnest.
Our work across South Wales is expanding to reflect the remarkable diversity of landscapes, communities and development contexts the region has to offer. Current projects span the Vale of Glamorgan, Monmouthshire, Bridgend, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, from coastal settings and rural valleys to town and village edges where thoughtful design can leave a lasting impression.
Across each project, the focus remains the same: creating places that feel genuinely rooted in their setting. Whether we're working on residential-led schemes, green infrastructure strategies, visitor destinations, heritage projects, or camping and glamping developments, we bring together our landscape, ecology and drainage expertise to shape places that connect people with nature and work well for the communities and visitors who use them.
We work closely with architects and planners based in Cardiff, joining multi-disciplinary teams from the earliest stages to help develop proposals that are both distinctive and deliverable. That integrated approach, bringing landscape thinking into the conversation early, is central to how we work, and it's something our South Wales clients and collaborators have come to value.
Our commitment to design quality in Wales extends beyond individual projects too. Simon and Kate's work with the Design Commission for Wales, sitting on the Design Review Panel and offering independent insight on proposals across the country, reflects a longstanding commitment to championing high standards in the built environment, and one that continues to inform how we approach our own work in the region.
This month, Kate is also meeting with the Placemaking Partnership to discuss the Placemaking Charter - conversations that feed directly into our day-to-day work, ensuring that local character, walkability, inclusivity and environmental resilience are embedded from the outset.
The new Tramshed base gives us a practical hub for meetings, design reviews and collaborative workshops, and supports a more responsive presence on the ground. As our South Wales portfolio continues to grow, it feels like the right moment to put down firmer roots, and we're looking forward to the conversations and connections that follow.
We were really impressed with Land Studio. They are creative, a delight to work with and captured our vision and their own vision perfectly.
