Our approach is what makes us different

Historically Landscape Architecture was often thought of towards the end of the design process, as either a way of “greening” a project or to “dress” a finished scheme.

Unfortunately, this also meant landscape budgets were of a lower priority and as a result landscape designs often fell short of their original aspirations.

Today, thanks to the heightened appreciation of the environment, the effects of climate change and the strengthening of environmental legislation, this old way of seeing Landscape Architecture is changing and 3D software and “Building Information Modelling” (BIM) is playing a major part in it.

With the increased incentive for new schemes to utilise this cutting-edge technology, a door has been opened to the benefits of early engagement with Landscape Architects.

By working in 3D, the design of the wider site is now a key part of the design process. Using collaborative software enables Landscape Architects to co-ordinate with the design team and contractors to get the best scheme for the site.

Over the last 4 years, we have seen how this proactive approach of working has enabled Landscape Architects to develop a stronger position within the design process.

Using 3D software has promoted landscape led design solutions and allowed easier presentation and communication to other designers and clients. In addition, working alongside other designers in 3D has seen notable efficiencies in design and construction.

We believe Land Studio’s approach to design is innovative and unique because we combine the creative freedom of hand drawings and traditional sketches in parallel with the advances of software technology by working in 3D with Revit and Twin Motion.

It is this breadth of design tools that allows us to lead project teams and develop the best, holistic, design solutions for all our schemes.

It's why we now use 3D software for over 60% of our design projects.
