Land Studio were commissioned to assist with a planning appeal for a replacement dwelling in Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Working closely with WM Design & Architecture, we developed a landscape strategy that preserved key features of the site, including hedgerows and trees, and incorporated a planting scheme reflective of the coastal character of the area.
Our visual impact assessments and viewpoint analyses demonstrated that the proposed two-storey house would have minimal visual impact on the surrounding landscape. We also collaborated with the ecology and civil engineering teams to ensure the project adhered to environmental standards, incorporating wildlife-friendly planting and sustainable drainage solutions. Ultimately, our integrated approach led to the successful approval of the planning appeal, showcasing how thoughtful design can enhance both the built environment and the natural landscape.
