Just outside Wetherby in West Yorkshire, the British Library is a landmark building that houses vast research collections from journals to national newspaper collections.
A site analysis was undertaken which looked at the history of the site, the existing buildings which were planned to be demolished, third party occupied buildings and potential areas for new construction.
Historic features such as the original perimeter railway track and remnants of a historic grid in the original building layout were investigated.

The final masterplan tool into account better pedestrian and vehicular movement across the site with new parking areas, increased landscaping features to enhance the visual impact of the site and looked at how the phasing of the project could be undertaken.
The study also provided information on material precedents to help show the quality of the final development and how zoning of materials can help to identify different areas within the development.

We were really impressed with Land Studio. They are creative, a delight to work with and captured our vision and their own vision perfectly.
