Harella House is a revitalised office building in the heart of London, where Land Studio proposed the transformation of the roof into a lush, temperate rainforest-inspired retreat.
Our design centres on dramatic tree ferns and layered understorey planting to create an immersive, green escape above the city. Dense, textural foliage softens the architecture, improves privacy, and provides year-round interest while enhancing biodiversity and wellbeing for building users.
Flexible seating was integrated throughout the terrace to support a range of uses: quiet individual work, informal meetings, relaxed lunch breaks, and larger gatherings or evening events.
Carefully planned circulation routes and planting pockets define a series of “rooms” that feel intimate yet connected. Discreet lighting and robust, low-maintenance species ensure the space remains practical and inviting in all seasons, turning the rooftop into a key asset for tenant attraction, retention, and brand identity.
