Ipsen NDP, Wrexham

Ipsen NDP in Wrexham, North Wales, is a significant pharmaceutical facility, employing over 500 people and specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of medicines and clinical trials. 

To enhance the site’s environmental sustainability, Land Studio designed a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) within the landscape design to address the challenge of surface water storage by directing water overland into green features within the site to store, convey and treat water before it leaves the site.

By implementing SuDS features which link to existing habitats the site landscaping provides habitat corridors but also green buffer zones between hard engineered service areas and public spaces reducing the need for hard engineered solutions. Often these features are not seen on this type of industrial development and whilst providing a drainage requirement are also used to segregate pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

A SAB Application under Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act was submitted and approved, along with formal consultations with Welsh Water for final connection of foul drainage.
