Land Studio was commissioned by Conwy County Borough Council to reimagine the former Victorian bowling green at Parc Eirias, creating a landscape that supports wellbeing, biodiversity and community use.

The design responds to the site’s distinctive setting “the park by the sea” and its mix of historic character, mature planting and views toward the boating pond.

The concept softens the existing rectilinear space, introducing a connected network of paths that lead visitors through areas for quiet reflection, gentle activity and social interaction.

The proposals include a sensory garden, outdoor exercise zone, and flexible open lawn for yoga, Tai Chi and informal play. A publicly accessible orchard provides opportunities for community gathering and seasonal produce, while new species‑rich hedgerows, wildflower areas and a rain garden enhance habitat value.

At the pond edge, seating steps create a place to pause and enjoy the landscape, complemented by floating islands designed to promote biodiversity with aquatic and amphibious species. Together, these interventions can establish a welcoming, nature‑rich destination within the wider park.
