St Mary’s Primary School

St Mary’s is a Church of England Infant School located in Witney, Oxfordshire. It raised money from families, the community and the Oxford Diocesan Trust to rejuvenate the school’s playground to provide a safe haven for children to play, learn and explore. 

Land Studio’s design created a mix of colourful and sensory floor space for the children to enjoy and adding warmth and fun, and created reading areas and a functional outdoor classroom environment. A sports activity area and growing spaces were also incorporated into the design.

Whilst the space was too small for open green SuDS features, a coloured resin bound paving was installed to provide a multi-functional space that delivered curriculum, play and adventure. The thoughtful design not only maximized the available space but also fostered a stimulating environment that encourages both learning and physical activity, contributing to the overall well-being of the students.
