Bontnewydd Community Campus

Bontnewydd Community Campus is one of three projects in the Sustainable Schools Challenge funded by Welsh Government, to provide a new school with community facilities on the site of the existing primary school in Bontnewydd, near Caernarfon.

Land Studio have been commissioned to design a holistic landscape which combines biodiversity, surface water management, play and functional external spaces for use by both the school and the local community. Sustainable drainage systems are incorporated into the landscape design, enabling the collection, storage, treatment and use of surface water. By incorporating environmental education into the drainage and landscape design, this can also serve as a learning environment for the children, and aligns with the Welsh Curriculum. 

Working on all design stages of the project, Land Studio are able to bring together landscape architecture, civil engineering and ecology, including leading workshops with the children, focusing on habitat awareness and sustainability, to provide a holistic design package of information from concept stage through to construction. This project is currently under construction.
