Aira Force, a picturesque landscape known for its woodland trails and stunning waterfalls, is managed by the National Trust and holds historical significance as an 18th century pleasure ground.
Land Studio were commissioned to develop design proposals that would enhance the visitor experience while preserving the site’s rich heritage and natural beauty. The design process was carried out with sensitivity to the site’s natural surroundings, ensuring that any enhancements would complement, rather than detract from, its historical character. The aim was to retain the essence of the landscape while introducing elements that would appeal to contemporary visitors. These included the restoration of existing features to their former glory, ensuring that the historical integrity of the site was maintained while making it more accessible and engaging for visitors, sweeping parkland areas and a canopy broad walk and creating pathways that reveal different aspects of Aira Force’s natural and historical features.
