A whirlwind of school visits

Two of our landscape architects Kate and Matt visited Ysgol Bontnewydd in Gwynedd this month and asked their Eco Council (aka a group of children in years 3 to 6) to talk about and model different spaces they would like to have on their site when their new school is built.

The Welsh Government is investing almost £12 million in a new school for Bontnewydd and we’re working with them on a landscape strategy for it.

Kate said: “We love doing school visits like this and listening to the brilliant ideas that children come up with. It was great to hear about what they wanted to see, with a focus on water, nature and wellbeing.”

As well as visiting the school in Wales, Kate made a whistle stop tour of six primary schools around Little Sutton in Cheshire along with Dan Thorpe from Cassidy + Ashton Architects. They asked years 5 and 6 pupils for their ideas and vision of what a community hub and park could be.
