Ontario Basin in Salford

Ontario Basin in Salford, once a bustling dock supporting numerous jobs, has been transformed into a vibrant hub for creative industries and a popular tourist destination.

As part of a 2030 project focusing on promoting well-being and celebrating the area’s rich history, Land Studio was commissioned to lead the landscape design at concept stage.

The project aimed to regenerate the post-industrial waterfront by reintroducing heritage features and industrial elements, blending them with modern planting and sculptural aspects. The design incorporated communal game spaces to encourage well-being and foster community cohesion. By thoughtfully integrating the past with the present, the project sought to create a dynamic and engaging environment that honours Ontario Basin’s historical significance while supporting its future as a thriving community space.
