Planning permission secured for a National Trust project in the Lake District

Planning permission has been secured for one of our projects with the National Trust.

We are working with Fell Foot Park in the Lake District to improve its visitor experience.

The lakeshore park sits at the southern tip of Lake Windermere with stunning mountain views, three piers and a number of Grade II-listed Gothic boathouses.

Thousands of people visit Fell Foot Park every year, which was given to The National Trust in 1948. It was the first country park in the Lake District to be designated as such and is one of the few lakeside venues accessible to the public south of Bowness.

We have designed a series of more open and accessible paths through the historic Victorian park and to the visitor hub at the boathouses on the shores of the lake.

The design plans have just been approved by the Lake District National Park Authority and construction work is expected to start to take place on site later this year.

Land Studio founder Simon Richards said: “We’re delighted that planning permission has been approved for our project at Fell Foot Park, which is a much-loved tourist attraction in the Lake District.

“We specialise in designing within historic places and in ways that connect people to nature and are working with the National Trust on a number of projects across the North West.

“In each case, we examine and interpret the layers of history of a site and give careful consideration to the sensitive integration of infrastructure and new uses to facilitate a sustainable future.”
