Heritage and Visitor Destination

We completed a scheme with Forestry England on a brand-new visitor welcome centre at Delamere Forest in Cheshire, the county’s largest area of woodland and a popular destination which welcomes over 750,000 visitors a year.

Our work for Halen Mon integrated a pop-up restaurant and an outdoor garden, strategically positioned to showcase its spectacular views over the Menai Straits.

Our landscape architects worked alongside our ecologists to develop a robust planting scheme for this coastal setting.

One of our first projects at Sizergh Castle was to improve the visitor experience and we were commissioned to redesign the arrival space and enhance the site’s accessibility and aesthetics.

We conducted a design study on 13 key car parks along the Pembrokeshire coast, recognizing their crucial role as a visitor’s first encounter with the area. The project aimed to enhance both functionality and sustainability while preserving the diverse habitats supporting native and migratory species.

We were commissioned alongside Malcolm Reading Consultants to produce a masterplan for the British Library North site in Boston Spa.

Land Studio have worked with Lyme Park for over 10 years working with the National Trust to review the visitor journey from arrival to car parking and movement through the estate and garden.

Our heritage and visitor destination work often involves helping a site to improve the capacity for future visitor numbers. We also consider ways in which to enhance the overall visitor experience through a careful balance of historic layering and the introduction of new infrastructure.

Aira Force, a picturesque landscape known for its woodland trails and stunning waterfalls, is managed by the National Trust and holds historical significance as an 18th century pleasure ground.

The Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park Visitor Centre, located in Betws-y-Coed, has long served as a key gateway for tourists exploring Snowdonia since the 18th century. 

Fell Foot, located in Windermere, Cumbria, is a picturesque lakeshore park managed by the National Trust.

Located on the banks of the River Wye the Lower Wireworks Car Park provides a gateway to Tintern Abbey.

Land Studio were commissioned by the National Trust on the landscape analysis and design for a new recreational space.

Hill Top is one of the National Trust’s most visited properties, drawing thousands of visitors each year to the former home of Beatrix Potter in the Lake District.

Land Studio were commissioned by Conwy Borough Council to prepare concept designs for three well‑used public parks: Tir Prince in Towyn, Cae Llan in Betws‑y‑Coed, and Eden Hall Gardens in Penmaenmawr. 

Land Studio was commissioned by the National Trust to design a new pedestrian path across the main lawn at Bodnant Gardens, one of Wales’ most celebrated historic gardens.

Parc Calon Lan is located in a village near the Garw River Valley in Bridgend, Wales. The site is surrounded by historical significance, being part of reclaimed land previously used for coal works.

Land Studio was commissioned by Conwy County Borough Council to reimagine the former Victorian bowling green at Parc Eirias, creating a landscape that supports wellbeing, biodiversity and community use. 

The Italian Gardens are a Grade II registered Edwardian style public garden forming a distinctive and much loved part of Penarth’s seafront.

Cold Knap Park is a Grade II registered inter-war public park forming a distinctive and much loved part of Barry’s seafront.
